A Weekend Away in Berry
Berry is one of those perfect weekend getaways with a little something for everyone.
Its close location to Seven Mile Beach as well as its beautiful shops and cafes make it a great weekend away anytime of the year.
Accommodation options are mostly self-contained homes, and there is absolutely no shortage of these. However, with the ample amount of beautiful restaurants and cafes pottered around, you won't need to do any cooking of your own. A personal favourite of mine is the Sourdough Bakery for a morning coffee (pictured above right). I can't seem to leave without having one of their delicious Lemon Yoghurt Cakes!
No weekend away is ever complete without a spot of homewares shopping (in my opinion!) and the beautiful homewares store Few & Far is one of the best (pictured above right). They honestly do have something for everyone from unique glassware and amazing scented candles to the most beautiful coffee table books. It is definitely worth taking your time to mill through their gorgeous pieces.
I have been visiting Berry for a number of years now, and even more since my sister and her family relocated from Sydney; and I plan on visiting even more as they have just opened the doors to their new venture, Far Meadow Table. Far Meadow Table is unique combination of dining experiences, catering service and a boutique cooking school.
Chef Iain (one half of the husband and wife duo) has a background in Michelen Star London restaurants - and the beautiful "paddock to plate" inspired food reflects this. But I am not biased of course! If you're heading to Berry with a group of friends or family, a cooking class is a great way to spend a day and learn some new skills in the kitchen. The best bit, this cooking class includes a delicious lunch and wine - a much more enticing way to learn!
I am actually heading to Berry this weekend and I am very much looking forward to a quick escape from Sydney and of course one of those Lemon Yoghurt Cakes!
