Design Overwhelm And How To Avoid It

"Design Overwhelm" can sneak up on you at any stage of a project. If you're undertaking a full-scale renovation or even a simple redecoration, there are a lot of decisions to be made along the way. In the case of a large renovation you have the added stress of managing timelines with the contractors and before you realise it, you're online searching for light fittings at midnight.

It can be hard to avoid "Design Overwhelm", but it really comes down to preparation and planning. A rushed decision is very rarely a good decision. I recommend to all my clients to start with the big pieces first. These are going to set the tone of your room and will help everything else fall into place. If you're doing the lounge room, always start with the sofa. If the bathroom is having a makeover, start with the vanity and tiles. By doing it this way, you can then follow a simple order of largest to smallest and make decisions based off the ones before.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by your current project, I not only offer full design management on projects, but I also offer one-off consultations to help get you back on track. Sometimes all you need is a fresh perspective and an action plan to give you the confidence to carry on. Please feel free get in touch and I can talk you through the options. Contact Us.
